i was wondering if there is a heavy duty transfer case out there for the 47re trans i got the chain drive but i heard rumors of there being a gear drive? does anyone know if there is and where i could find one at?

 

lots of guys swap out for the 3rd gen 271-D or whatever it's called

 

will that bolt right up to my tranny or will i have to change anything around?

 

Mine is an NV241DHD... was told it is the heavy duty case...not sure. I believe there are 3 models of case...not 100% sure though.

The only gear driven transfer case strong enough that I've ever heard of is the NP205. Very strong and considered bullet proof. It was common on GM 1 ton trucks in the 80's and 90's. And I'm sure there's ways to adapt it to your tranny too.
