Hey all,
I did a ford cummins swap on my 1990 F250. Installed a 98 24 valve. I adapted and installed my ford oil pressure sending unit on the cummins engine. I put the sending unit on top of the oil filter housing where the 1/8" pipe plug was near the oil output for the turbo. My problem is when the truck is first started it pressurizes and reads normal on the dash, as I run the truck down the road the oil pressure drops in correlation to the RPM, to a point where the trucks running at around 2200 rpm and the guage is in the RED! Is the cummins normal to run lower oil pressures at higher RPMs? Can someone tell me what the oil pressures are supposed to be so I can hook an analog gauge to it and watch whats going on? Maybe its just a ford guage issue and not the cummins, cause it runs fine.

 

my oil pressure gauge is over 40 all the time. in fact it doesnt move AT ALL from the last mark thats between 40 and 110. not reall sure if thats what its supposed to do but i dont lose any pressure throughout the rpm on my truck.

 

ive got and aftermarket gauge hooked up the same place start it up cold at idle itll go as high as 60, driving cold 80, when its all warmed up idling about 30, driving all warmed up i get 60 at all rpms hope this helps

 

start up about 60...warm and driving in between 40-45

 

Sounds like the LPOP took a dump

 

Plumb in a seperate mechanical guage to that 1/8" npt port on the top of the oil filter housing
