Default VP44 out the door

Hey guys my 02 Cummins is acting up on me. The mileage has dropped to 10 mpg, blows way too much black smoke, misses on hard pull, and when ya let off the gas on a hard pull it will shut down, most the time wont start back up for a few hours. No codes in computer. Im not sure but I think the pump is failing. Do ya'll think its the pump? If so do you think i'd be better off replacing with another vp44 or just go ahead and P-Pump it? I mainly use the truck to tow the boat and occasionaly take it to the track to play. The truck has AEM Intake, removed silencer ring and blocked turbo(runs bout 35-40 psi), 100 HP Edge injectors, 150 AirDog, Edge chip, and 4" MBRP straight pipe. Much appreciated DJ

What Edge do you have? Comp, EZ, Juice w/Attitude? If you have the EJWA, what is your fuel pressure doing?

Have you checked all your fuel lines and fuel line connections? Just a shot in the dark, but if you've got a leak, it may be suckin air and when you come off gettin a bunch of air in the line and causin you to shut down.

Try running your truck without the Edge on it. Just to make sure its not the box messing your truck up.

sounds like the bypass solenoid. I would just get a new VP, Ppump is not needed for this low of a power level and can be a challenge to tune. It will also fail you for emissions if your state is cursed with them.
