Harmonic Balancer Wobble
I've got a 93 12v that has a very slight wobble (less than a 1/16"). It seems to be the whole balancer, not the rubber seperating. I checked the bolts, all torqued to specs. I assume the engine is internally balanced since the balancer is even all the way around. Not real familiar with older cummins engines, just wondering if this is common. I don't want to run it like that, can't be good on the crank bearings. Also, anybody running a fluidamper, and if so, do they kill a lot of vibes?
Are you positive its wobbling? Mine looks like it is too but its really not. I think its just the fan belt that makes it look like it is. If it really is you probly need to get the crank shaft balanced
It might be a jedi mind trick. I just pulled the balancer, cleaned it up and put it back on. Still "seems" to be off, but not as much as I thought, maybe 2/32. I think I'll have a shop take a look
i was worried about my balancer wobbling after i took it off but when i gapped the sensor to .049" and it didnt hit it i was satisfied. i tried to bolt the balancer back in the exact same place as it was from the factory.
