98 12 valve quad cab 4x4 for $5500
Need some advice. I have the opportunity to pick up a 98 12valve quad cab 4x4 with 333000 miles for $5500. All in all decent shape. New a/c, one new front wheel bearing, kdp recently blanked off, new brakes No dash cracks to speak of. Auto tranny with new tc and clutches. Was formerly a flatbed but now has a bed off a '95, both silver but the color is slightly different. Bone stock from what I can tell. Truck starts and runs pretty well but it has a slight lope at idle. Not a full miss and there's no knock. I think it could need the valves reset or possibly a new set of injectors. I know they can be worth money but this ones far from perfect. Any input on the price? And what about the miss?

it could just use the idle turned up...and about the price i would work him a little bit you still have to worry about them high mile differentials i know that motor can take half a million miles though
when i picked my silver truck up it loped at an idle, but it was idling at 300 when you started it and then 500 when it was warm, i bumped the idle up and it was fine.
if its not a miss or a knock its probally idling too low, check what rpm it idles at. but id do some price hagling.

im picking up a 12v 96 cummins stick shift with 200k on it for 5gs so i would do a little hagling the guy up there said you should be able to get it for atleast 5000 if not 4500 cause 333000 miles is getting up there you know
yea, I would def. try to get him down a bit...I paid 3900 for mine with 297,000 on it. Then again it does need a whole new body including the cab, but for the price I guess I cant really complain.
kinda depends on how the motor was treated. my son got a 96 12v that was in good shape that just had a head gasket replaced with 305k on the clock. you could still see the cross hatch marks on the cyls. he paid 5200
