Default What is this and what does it do?

The '96 12v I'm pulling apart has this attached to the lift pump, I'm assuming it is an electric lift pump but I can't find any info on it and I want to know if I should be worried that the wire is broken. I'm going to reattach the wire but, if it is a lift pump could it have damaged the injection pump if it wasn't working?

Thanks

It's the fuel heater, also the bottom screws off and there's a strainer screen in there. It's a mechanical pump

Being in Canada you'll probably want to fix the wire to keep your fuel from gelling in the winter, if you were in the southern USA or somewhere else warm I would say don't worry about it.

Awesome, thanks for letting me know, I thought these engines just had mechanical lift pumps but I just wanted to make sure.
