Default vp44 pump

Well i have got my pump off. Now! i find videos.
They all work through the vent hole in the front cover.
Guess I did everything wrong, I took the fan and cover and radiator shroud off.

Removed the fuel injector lines too. and all those little brackets.

I have lots of time so no biggie i'll just put it all back together.

When I took the front cover off I aligned the timing marks on all gears before I removed the gear, and removed the pump.

I plan on putting it back with the marks aligned the same way. I am from the old school and thats all I know how to do.

I will let you all know if my first injector pump change works ok.

Lots to learn, and so little time left in this world.

By the way my truck is just a stock truck and I will never have money to make it any differnt

I have lots to read on this site, glad I found it. So much to learn.

I guess old gas drivers can change.

Some good and some bad here.

While the radiator is out soak it until all the oil and gunk is out of it. It may look clean but unless this has been done it's not.

Those fuel supply lines. Good luck, I made the mistake of takin them apart myself. Like a backwards Chinese puzzle tryin to put them things back together. They have to be exact and all those isolators have to be in the right spots. Any variances and the vibrations and rubbing will crack the lines or rub holes through themselves. I pulled my truck up next to another and one line at a time strung em together. Be careful with those isolators, they break easy and cost they're weight in gold if you have to buy them.

As long as you don't turn the motor with the pump out, the only timing you need to worry about is lining that timing key up perfectly on the shaft so it slides clean inot the slot. It will go in wrong and that ruins that brand new pump so you have to be sure when you do this. It's not hard to do, just check it frequently as you putting it in and tightening the nut down.

while the cover is off, look at the KDP. 2 birds with one stone.

Well I won't move the engine until the new pump is in and bolted down.
Don't know what the KDP is

I put a tag on each line so I can put it back in the original place without confusion.

Have cleaned up everything and I am now waiting for my new pump to arrive.

KDP is a dowel pin behind the front engine timing cover.
Quick fix is to pull the bolt out closest to it, make a small tab washer that will cover the pin and prevent it from rattling out and destroying the timing gear.
Good luck with the pump, Mines about fried so I'll be there soon.
