Fuel filter question
I just bought my '96 2500 & changed the oil & filter. I also bought a fuel filter & noticed that it's in a not-so-accessable area. Any tricks to make it a little easier? Mike
oh how i hate that darn thing... only thing i can really say is squeeze and hold on.. also if you got the right size you can get a pair of channel locks down in there and that takes some fanageling and make sure you have that lil bottom piece sealed on there tight to cus if not you get no pressure
I forget who makes them. It's been a few years since I looked into that. I ended up ditching pretty much the whole Dodge fuel system on the 1st Gen in favor of something a little more reliable and robust, including a custom primary/secondary Racor filter setup.
I use a loooong screw driver and a hammer. Drive it through the filter and turn to get it started. It's hard to get a lot of rotation though. Usually have to make about 3 holes. I know it sounds stupid but i used to use a filter wrench until i had to change it up in the mountains one day when i only had a hammer and screwdriver. I thought it was easier
Yes, now I remember, Prime Loc:
Prime-Loc Remote Mount Fuel Filter Systems
Kinda pricey, IIRC. That's whay I decided to go a completely diferent direction, since the stock filter seemed a bit smallish anyway....
