Default AC fan

Man i hate working on my brothers truck cuz he's a nut about not messing anything up. Like its his actual baby. Anyhow hes ac fan is acting up and believes that we need to change it out. I know it isn't the old days where it just hangs off the firewall under the hood but it shouldn't be to hard, right? any tips, pointers, or blue prints would be thanked greatly.

I've got the GM big book out. I just need alittle more info to help you out.

As far as removing the blower motor it fairly simple.
For the Visteon Unit:
1. Remove the black plastic cover from under the glove box. Need a 7mm socket
2. Disconnect electrical connection from blower motor.
3. Remove screws holding blower motor in. (Should be 3 screws)
4. Remove retainer from blower motor impeller
5. Discard retainer.

For Delphi unit:
1. Remove the black plastic thing again.
2. Remove blower motor insulating cover screws
3. Disconnect connections
4. Remove blower motor cover.
5. Pull retaining tab down while rotating the motor counterclockwise to disengauge the motor from housing.
6. Remove blower motor
Just need to know which motor you have Delphi or Visteon

You might want to check the resistor pack on the fan before replacing the fan motor. Had one go out in an 04 a while back, started with no high, then went to no fan at all. That one did not have the auto A/C. IIRC parts were $55 or so. Not real expensive.

Ya, if the motor isn't working right you might have a burnt connection at the motor. The blower resister is the culprit, but if it burned everything, then you'll need the resistor and the motor.

This is the correct way. No screws holding the motor in on the '00 and up:
1. Remove the black plastic thing again.
2. Remove blower motor insulating cover screws
3. Disconnect connections
4. Remove blower motor cover.
5. Pull retaining tab down while rotating the motor counterclockwise to disengauge the motor from housing.
6. Remove blower motor

Yep I'd start with the Blower Motor Resistor.
It's mounted right next to the blower motor.
