Default Brake light issue

Alright i've had this problem with my brake lights for almost the past year know and for some reason nobody around this town can fix it. what happens is whenever i go to hit the brakes and i let back off the pedal wont come all the way back to turn off the toggle switch to kill my lights so i have to drive with my foot under the pedal holding the lights off. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to fix this problem?

my brothers truck does that and he hooked a bungee strap to it somehow down there to keep it back up but i dont think the actual problem has been looked into

sounds like a pedal problem not lights or light switch problem ... like maybe a bad return spring or something ... some one else will chime in im sure ... but if ur having to hold the pedal up its not the switch

its the brake light switch out of adjustment. lay on ur floor n look up at the brake pedal. grab the bracket for the switch with a pair of pliers n bend it toward the pedal a little bit. i've had to do this with mine.

wouldn't i need to bend it away? since the pedal connecting with the switch is what triggers the lights?

when u push the pedal it goes away from the switch. when u let off it pushes the switch in. i know it seems backwards but take a look at it.
