transmission question
The trans i my 01 shifts thru all the gears fine,but it seems to stay in each gear to long. It's like you have it to the floor even if just lugging it. It also will not shift out of 1st gear if i get on it. i was told that it has some type of module on the outside of the trans that contols the shifting. does anybody have any ideas on this. i think the trans might be ready to go.

I have intermittent issues like this on my 03. There's a TPS or an APPS a (throttle position sensor- Accelerator pedal position sensor) Look them up. You may just have to recalibrate it, but if you wind up needing a new one you can get away with just ordering the sensor and not the whole bulkhead. This will save you some$$$. Dodge wants 460.00 for the whole unit. But there's a place that sells the electronic side for 160.00 (made in china) and another for around 200.00. I'll try and find a link for you.

The truck has 216,000 miles on it . But i have no idea about anything on the trans. It just had IP & LP replaced & run great. If I take off easy it will hold in each gear for a while before it shifts. Once in OD if i drive around 45 it will act like the trans is slipping. But if i stay above that it is fine.
