Default tire balance causing death wobble?

OK, I know it sounds crazy but this is what I got goin on. My KM2s wore out so I put stock wheels and tires back on and started havin the death wobble when I'd hit a bad pothole, only at highway speeds. Had the truck checked by a couple different reputable shops in the area and they said the same thing, upper and lower ball joints, all tie rods, and other steering components are good. It was only the last guy that suggested the tires being WAY out of balance could cause this. Anybody got any ideas? Kinda sounds like BS to me but all this guy does is work on lifted trucks and 4x4s. I'm at a loss cuz the guy is really good but I'm skeptical of that being the cause.

Strictly BS if it's actual death wobble. Death wobble only happens intermittently but tires are balanced or not balanced all the time. Out of balance tires also only cause issues at lower speeds. Once your at cruising speed centrifical force balances them, for the most part.

Check out the post in my signature and you will find every cause of death wobble that has been documented so far.

Yep BS on the balancing part.Did you check the tire pressure on the stock wheels? If I recall 60 psi is the lowest psi cold in the front, this is to keep the wobble down or bump and steer. O how old is the steering stabizer ?

Tire and wheel issues can make the wobble worse but they can't cause it.

I don't know how old the steering stabilizer is.

Both shops said the steering box was fine.

So if it's not the tires, then howcome it only does it when I hit a bad pothole and interstate speeds? I'm talkin 70-80+ and even then it doesn't always do it.

Because the potential is there due to whatever issue or combination of issues you have and the sudden impact sets it off: Boom - high speed lateral oscillation amplified by improper suspension setup and/or worn parts, and/or tire-wheel issues and/or many possible combinations of the above. Stock wheels with Load range D tires and bad ball joints are probably the most common scenario, but many others out there possible.
