ok guys i got my guages in thanks to tlttruckparts and i was wondering where i should mount my egt guage im pretty shure i should mount it in front of the turbo like on the exhaust manifold because i heard that if you do it after the turbo you reasd like 300 degrees cooler if you have any suggestions as to where i should put this guage let me know thanks

 

in the exhuast manifold pre turbo

 

in the exhaust manifold right before the turbo bolts to it. DO NOT drill your hole in the dead center of the manifold offset it to one side. there is a center support that you wont be able to drill through. alot of us have made that mistake

 

i did right in the center and drilled through the support

thats way more work no need to do it if its not necesarry though

 

just make shure you clean EVERYTHING out after you drill the hole if you dont take off the turbo

 

The exhaust flow does a nice job of that. Just start it afterwards and pull the intake hose off the turbo to make sure it's still spinning. 99.999999% of the time it will be, with no other hoops jumped through, greased bits, drilling while running, etc, ect.

i hEARD THAT IF U DRILL THE HOLE WHILE THE TRUCK IS RUNNING IT BLOWS THE SHAVINGS BACK OUT OF THE HOLE THATS WHAT A COUPLE OF MY FRIENDS DID

 

i dont necesarilly think thats true. because if you think about it, no shavings are going through the hole while your drilling because there isnt any holes in the manifold. there isnt a hole in the manifold until it pops through right at the end and then the bit would be forcing the metal down there. i didnt vacuum mine out i just fired up the truck with the intake off of it. didnt hurt a thing
