Couple Questions
Gotta do the rear end flud change this week was wondering how many quarts it takes and what weight is the best? also how big is the fuel cell on our trucks?
2001 dodge ram 2500 4wd

75W 90 is what i used.
My manual listed 7.2 to 7.8 pints, which is just under 4 quarts......I've got a Dana 70.
It wouldn't take any more fluid either.
And don't forget to add about 8oz of friction modifier if you have a limited slip.
Regarding fuel tank volume, I've got a 34 gallon tank in my '99 short bed. I always thought it held less until I ran it until i thought it was almost empty and then found 8 more gallons of fuel in there!
Not sure if they changed for 2001, but I guess they might have.

Sticker under the hood should say. If you have 4x4, i think they all have it but i could be wrong.
Fluid is gear oil. Weights vary by what you do with the truck, where you live, etc. Some people prefer a heavier weight than 75w 90, but that's what I went with.
Friction modifier can be bought through Amsoil. Or you can find it at Napa.
Don't bother with Kragen/O'reillys for that stuff. When i asked for it there, guy said "what is that a tool or something?"
HE was the tool
