I was wondering if I unplugged my egr valve if it would quit burning the coolant as much?

 

i don't know if that will do anything to stop the coolant leak, but if your not running a tuner that will block codes, you'll start throwing codes if you unplug the egr. are you sure it's not a head gasket?

Definetly do not unplug the erg cooler. That will not make the ECM happy. If anything I would delete it and get a tuner to keep it from throwing codes.

 

Yea I know it isnt my head gasket I have a edge box on there but I am putting the banks six gun on it today. I have been told that some guys have had there egr unplugged for 100,000 miles and it didnt do anything to there truck. What wil it do if I unplug it?

 

as long as the banks sg blocks the codes, you should be fine.

 

I pulled out my egr and welded it closed put it back pluged it in i still throw 1 code but with no effect on performance

 

Where is the egr located is it on top of the motor because whatever that is I just replaced it.

 

Its about 2" around and 2" long has a flat plug on it located just behind the intake elbow

 

How are you sure its not the heads? Unplugging the EGR wont stop the leak in the cooler.

 

It very well could be head gaskets. I was just more talking about disabling the egr valve wich will keep the egr cooler cooler and not soot up the intake manifold with out throwing a check eng light.
