Alright guys, have a few question.

I bought my truck and was told that it only had 160k on it. But the governor shaft seal is leaking, sometime pretty good but only when the truck is warming up or cooling down. Doesn't do it while running or after been sitting for a while unless it gets hot out side. The only people I hear saying they have leaks is higher mile trucks. So either my truck has a lot more miles than I was told or it had been sitting for an extended period of time. But this has me rather concerned now and have a period of time before I can get a sum of money to get this thing road worthy again.

So my plan,
I'm going to pull the motor and trans from the truck to inspect, replace, and clean up this bad boy since I have to wait on tax returns to do anything. The main reason is my flex plate has a chipped tooth keeping the motor from starting at the moment.

So what are some things that would be good to look at to ensure that this motor has 160k and not 300k?

The only thing i can really think of is do a compression check and then inspect the cylinders for any excessive wear but I know there has to be some other thing to look at besides just the cylinders.

Sorry for the story but I hope ya got the idea of it.

if your going to pull it out you can inspect your rod and main bearings. you can reseal your vacuum pump change all hoses and even water pump, belts basically anything like that if you have time and money and something else to drive

...or maybe you just have one with a leaky seal with 160,000 miles on it.

It happens ya know.
