There is a large nut on the backside of the fan. It is left hand thread, which means you push down on the drivers side to loosen it.
I had to clamp a vise-grip on mine (not too tight) and put the end of a 2X4 against it, and whack the other end of the 2X4 with a hammer.

The air hammer method works,but be sure to use a blunt tip or you will destroy the threads and never get it apart! My large wrenches are at work,so I used a cresent wrench and a BFH! I have also pulled the whole assembly and put it in my bench vise.
i took a wrench and ones of those rubber strap oil filter wrenchs to hold the pulley and it was a sinch. the rubber strap oil filter wrench is what i use on every pulley now. you wouldnt believe how good it holds
