lock problems stilllll!

i've got a 47re that won't lock up ever since i put a convertor in it.i talked to a guy at suncoast and he said to put a piece of tape over the hole in the lock up solenoid and it would lock up when it shifted to 2nd if it's an electrical problem only.well it didn't.i was wondering if i was supposed to only tape one of the holes,or just one,i taped both off,i really need some help here.
did you replace the front pump too? we got nailed with a similar situation... dodge gave us a pump with two detents instead of the required 3. an it resulted in no lock up. on the other hand can you get a non lock up convertor to fit a 47re? could have been a goof with parts
