Default aftermarket fuel filter help

my 94 had a dahl filter assembly removed form it before i bought it due to a no start problem. should i replace this or is the stock filter system ok? it was a model 100 , if my truck should have better filtration is there any newer units that are recomended? thank you, john

What's a "dahl" filter assembly, and was it like clogged, so they pulled it completely just so the truck would start? I think that would be like throwing the baby out with the bath.
