Cooling system
I changed my t-stat today, and flushed the cooling system. now my temp is boucning around alot from 188 to 210. Does the new t-stat need time to loosen up?
This is all under normal condtions, no hills, no towing. Just city and highway.
What ya think?

There is a name plate on the gear housing, drivers side when you go to cummins they will want a number off that plate( i removed mine) give them that and your set.DONT go to the dodge dealer they want 80.00 or so for one.
Yeah roger that, I got a place by me called harbor diesel. They got parts for cats, detriots and cummins. I hope this motor is used enough in commerially that they will have it. but still &^#$
Kinda glad this topic came up... My 99 just started this yesterday... TOTALLY out of the blue.... I haven't checked the coolant level, but figured the problem was either that or the WP... good call on the cap. I'll check that too.
Fingers crossed it's not a cracked block... she's a Fiddy3.

No there is nothing wrong you got a air bubble trapped in the system you'll have to burp the cooling system and reload it more. This occurs everytime I flush my cooling system it will burp a air bubble into the radiator and take in another 1 gallon of coolant.
