what is the most difficult part about doing the kdp? how long should i expect in terms of hours to do this job? asked a shop what they would charge. they replied with 475.00!!!!! screw that i will do it myself. i don't have lots of time on my hands, but it looks like i will make some.

takes an afternoon not hard you dont have to pull the radiator and intercooler but it makes it a touch easier

We have a guy who comes ot our culbs dyno shows and does the KDP tabbing for a small fee and it takes him more time to get his tools out than to tab the pin.

I can believe the fee they quoted you if they are taking off the front cover and balancer to do the job. They probably quoted you from a flat rate book and used their hourly rate to come up with the price as many shops do......Andy

You can't do it without taking the cover off. The pin sets inside the cover where the gearing is.And it's hard enough to try with the balancer on.

Yes,you CAN do the KDP tab without removing the front cover or balancer.I have seen it done by Wannadiesel so many times I'd bet money he can do it in his sleep.Last year at our fall show he did 12 trucks alone on Saturday while we all dynoed.

You do not have to believe me all you need to do is go over to the DTR and ask him yourself. His user handle is "Wannadiesel",he is moderator there and one of the best 1st gen truck tune up guys out east here. His Jig for the KDP tabbing is a slick deal and he will have you done in no time flat. Many of our show attendees have seen him do his magic in person and many of us have had him do the job for us.........Andy

ive heard people drilling a hole in the case and putting a bolt through it to hold the kdp from falling out. sounds pretty redneck to me
