i just bought a 1994 dodge ram 2500 with the 12 valve cummins and i was wondering what i could do to improve acceleration as it is very sluggish off the start unless u get above 2 on the tach then u can feel the turbo really take off.

 

try doin a boosted launch... hold the brake and wait till the revs get over 2000 n let off the brake..

 

yeah that works but you don't always wanna have to do a boosted launch. i think he's looking for more fuel and boost. search the forum and look for things like turnin up your pump. basically everyones gonna say the same thing, get guages, then exhaust, then a fuel plate, and then tune your afc. that should give you the more acceleration your wanting. notice how you said it's got plenty when the turbo kicks in? well start there, work towards getting more boost quicker so you'll go speed racer like your wanting. all that can be acheived by again searching around a little for the mods to do so.

 

Are you using an automatic, or a manual transmission? If it is an auto, upgrade the torque converter and tinker with the AFC. If it is a manual, tinkering with the AFC is all you can do.
