how do i get the nut off to remove the injection pump gear?

with a wrench

you should be able to tab the gear to keep it from spinning and be able to back the nut off

30 mm socket and use the barring tool to hold the gears form moveing. if you don't have one I would buy one It will make this whole process easyer. also to get the gear to pop off your gonna need the gear puller

sorry to intrupt but i got a 99 so should i take the KPD out? did they fix the problem by then?

you cant take it out, it does serve a purpose, im pretty sure cummins didnt address this issue until 2000, and spendin 100 dollars and a couple hours sure beats the hell out of what im doin.

yeah your gonna need gaskets too, check on puredieselpower.com, they got the whole kit to do it.

you can make that tab and save yourself a few dollars its just a flat piece of steel you bolt under the case bolt beside the pin but you still do need the gaskets i would recomend taking the case off and replacing the gasket behind the case while your in there and also over tightening and red locktiting all the case bolts so that they dont fall out and cause problems ask me how i know

how the hell do i get to the inside 2 bolts on the injection pump???
