Unhappy rear axle seal

I just changed fluid in differential, used AMSOlL 75W-90,yesterday had a flat fixed at local tire shop, the tire jockey came in and told me my rear seals were leaking and needed to replace CR seal and Axle seal non clip type, I did another check of fluid level and it may have been a few oz's high brought fluid to 1/4" below hole,By the way thanks to all for providing info on how to change fluids, my first time. Truck has 84,000 miles,no problems before had breaks done 5,000 mile ago no mention of leaks any ideas? thanks really like this site!

Had to replace mine at 50k-ish. Might have to beat the rotor/hub to get it off the spindle. Be prepared to replace the inner and outer bearings and races with as many miles as you got on them. Lots of room to pull the axles. Took me about 4 hours to do mine.

too much fluid can do this. i have done it personally. but the rule of thumb for me is. if the seal leaks and none hits the ground or if I do not have to add any fluid then the seal is fine for the time being until you have to add fluid in it more frequent than 6 months I would leave it as many times it will never get any worse.
