Default Turbo removal difficulty

Unbolt the four bolts holding on the turbo.

Turbo falls.

Turbo hits frame rail before it clears mounting studs.

How does one get the turbo out from in between the mounting studs and the frame rail? Do the mounting studs press out? Or do you have to get creative and roll it out somehow?

Easiest to pull with the exhaust manifold.

that is what i was gonna suggest, it is only 12 bolts.... i used an impact on mine to R&R... granted it is a 12v and not a 3rd gen....

the outside two studs unscrew and that clears the turbo to twist out a pair of bent nose channel lock pliers will grab and extract the studs easy. Just let turbo fall as far as it will and the slide the pliers between the manifold and the turbo.

So do you thread out the outer mounting studs or press them out?

I never knew I was this spoiled with a first gen.
