If you slide the stock fuel plate forward with no modification to the plate itself do you still have to adjust the governor arm ??

 

if the gov arm goes under the plate. some pumps will need the adjustment some won't. that is why you need to check it every time you make a plate adjustment.

 

Shouldnt need to be.

 

After you have made the adjustment and before putting the AFC housing back on, with motor off, while looking below the fuel plate lift up the fuel shutoff solenoid arm with one hand and with the other hand move the throttle linkage, as if adding fuel, and see that the arm does not get hung up under the plate. If the arm does not go under the plate pat attention to where the arm tries to make on the profile on the plate. I set mine to where it hits the very bottom of the plate and not up higher in a deeper part of the profile.
