Default 3.07 open differential

I was just wondering if anybody knows if there is a locker or factory sure grip available for this diff? Would it require parts swapping or custom parts?

go to summit website and look for a locker/posi

if you want a true LOCKED rearend just weld the spiders

swapping gears / posi instal if you have never done it it can be kinda difficult because the pattern needs to be within spec and the baring preloaded other wise it will make noise and the barings will burn up prematurely if you get as limited slip /posi MAKE SHURE you get the right oil with the correct Friction modifiers to make it peform its best

here Differential Carriers - summitracing.com

and what axle is it?

I checked there already, and also at randy's ring @ pinion.I am beginning to wonder if the Dana 71 ever came with sure grip at all.Didn't want to weld it if I didn't have to,but it is looking like my only option.I'll look around a little more before breaking out the welder though.

I have a factory posi in my 89 3.08 truck. Call dodge and see if they have any more left. A year or so ago there were still a few in the system. No ring and pinions left but they did have the posi carrier.

The 3.07 diff is called a 71 according to the manual. They were only supposedly available with the 727.4X4 trucks with the 727 had a dana 61 in the front.I'll check with the dealer for a posi. Thanks for the info!

The dana 71 did not come up on any site that I could find. There was parts for the 61,but not under dodge trucks, and only for 3.54 to 4.10.

As far as any parts supplier is concerned the 3.07 does not exist. I had a aftermarket supplier tell me that 3.07's in a 70 were never made. I told him I had 2 trucks at the house with them and he still would not believe me.
