Anyone know how to make the factory 16x8 aluminum wheels fit on 1998 and older ? I bought a set but they won't clear the rear drums. DAMN . I thought of having the drums milled down a bit, but i just don't know??

 

is it a srw or drw? im running 16x8 on my truck

 

2002 and older trucks came with 16'' wheels, so they should fit. if your running the 03 newer you need to get 17" wheels. But if your having an issue im sure you can get away with milling the drum down. that or sell your wheels and get bigger ones....

 

It is 1998 2500 dana 80 single wheel. The wheel hits the lip on the drum and goes no further. I also tried on a 1994 2500 dana 70 same story.

 

Thats so wierd, are you sure that they are 16'' wheels/ cause i have run 16s on my 97, and my friend is running 16'' wheel now and they fit great

I am guessing those wheels came on the trucks with rear disc brakes??

 

ya probably came on disc brake trucks, u can lift the rear end up and put it in gear so it spins and use an angle grinder to mill down the drums but my suggestion is to get new wheels

The backspacing is wrong.

Some people have taken close to 1/4" off the outer lip of the brake drum, but thats not really recommended.

 

i wouldnt be grinding any of my break parts. these are heavy *** trucks empty, espetially fully loaded with trailers. i would buy new rims
