i was thinking of selling the auto in my truck and getting a manual.it is built but i'm not sure what all is done.you can tell it is built just by riding in it.how much is it worth,and will all the manual stuff bolt right in my truck?

 

Well its hard to say how much it's worth, if we don't know what it has done. you could be sitting on gold or junk. If you have a very expensive tourque convert and valve body thats going to help your situation. i would if your serously thinking of the swap. Take your tranny out and have somone who knows take a look @ it, and even freshen it up profesionally then you could get top dollar for it. but if its used....your not getting m uch because not many people are going to buy a used tranny for "Good Money" From what i know about the standard swap is, you have to drill something on your crank shaft, shorten your drive shaft like 3 inches and install all the pedals and hydralics. I don't think its overly hard but it is time consuming. I would say the best way is find a donor truck so you have all the parts and can see exactly how to install them Good luck

 

go for the manual it will take a beatin over even a built auto.
like hemix said find a donor truck to get all the parts out of.
make sure you puts some redline mt-90 synthetic if its a nv4500
mine shifted like crap when i got it, did some research and went with the redline, shifted better olny 2 miles down the road. you cant go wrong

 

While the Redline might help you shift, there are plenty of tried and true rigs running Syntorque, which is what is recommended. Other oils are proven to destroy NV4500's... Even Amsoil doesn't seem to work properly, I don't know why the Castrol is the best in them, but it is...

 

yeah.
its very picky over its fluid.
thats why i just didnt some some brand from autozone or something like that in it.
i did some research and found everyone who ran the redline was very happy so i went with it.
plus the olny place to get the syntorque was the dealer
not paying 200$ to change it!

Thanks for the info on the Redline. I have a NV4500in my truck and was wondering what the best oil was. Even though im an Amsoil dealer, i believ ill try the Redline. My tranny feels a bit stickey through the gears.

 

i've been told that it is really costly to swap out from an auto to a manual tranny, just because of the parts

 

i can get a good nv4500 for $250.00 that's a hell of a deal
