Seat belt warning light

How can i stop the idiot light from poping up and the noise?

if you look in the manual it tells you how to turn the dinger off... i think it is like turn the key on til the seat belt light goes off, buckle and unbuckle the seat belt 3 times ending with it buckled and then start it and if it dings once it shuts the warning off.. but the light still stays on unless it is buckled but no dinger
