Hello, I have a buddy with the similar truck as mine, 05 dodge 3500 auto 4x4. Hes in need of a motor and having a hard time finding one around my neck of the woods.

I have the resource of picking up a complete truck through salvage auctions and wonder what motors will fit. Can you run an 06 motor or 04.5 and earlier motor? The harness and computer would all be with the motor and everything else attached to it, as would have the complete truck.

Passed up on an 04 (01.04 production date) truck about a week back.

Isi he looking for a short block or the whole thing? I would think you would at least want a 04.5 and up engine.

 

Will an early 04 work for a 06 with a few swaps?
