I know a guy with a 2000 dodge with a dana 70 rear with posi just been rebuilt and is a drum break rear, and is getting ready to give the truck back to the bank, what I was wondering is it possible to switch the rears and breaks? Or does that bring up a bunch more issues? I would like to have a posi and new gears in mine as this was done back in jan on his truck, but mine is disc... thanks for the help

 

urs is prolly a dana 80 since it's an 01 but if not just switch the carrier and pinions out

 

mine is an auto it's a 70. manuals had 80's

 

an 80 wont fit in a 70 and a 70 wont fit in a 80

Yes you can swap it out 70 to 70 only thing you might need to change is the % of brake fluid that feeds the rear brakes

I woud keep the drums and just add chevy rear wheel cylinders.

 

I really just want to know if I can swap the brakes out if I swap axles
