Default G56/Mileage Question

The time has come for me to look for a different truck...As it turns out I have need of more cab space then my regular cab 06 can provide...I would like to go back to a manual trans but I am a bit leary of the G56 with it .80 : 1 OD ratio...I am looking for feed back from G56 owners on what kind of mileage you are seeing as well as which mods helped the most...Chances are that I am going to be getting an 05 because I really prefer the interior of the older 3rd gens to the newer ones...I would love to get an NV5600 but those things are impossible to find these days...Any input would be greatly appreciated...TIA

I'm getting around 19.5 to 20 on the interstate running 70 to 75 at 2300 to 2400 rpm's, i would say that isn't to bad considering....the inline six motors always did get way better fuel milage than the bigger V8 motors, i would say there is a good chance you won't have any problems with the G56, i have 23,000 miles on mine with no issues, by the way my truck is stock with the acception on exhaust and intake!

Well look who decided to join the party! I know Chad and another one of my good friends have the new trans and both like them very much. Seem to be doing good on mileage, only thing I have seen is they dont like high hp sled pulling.

I'm getting 17-18 out of my srw 4x4 @ 60-65mph. Altitude plays a role in my mileage, I'm at 7K ft elevation. When I travel at lower elevations I get a little better mileage.

The milage on the truck is also a factor. when mine was new the best I got out of it was 14.5mpg. Around 30k miles it started getting better, but this is also when the stock muffler and catalytic converter came off.
