I have 96 dodge and going down the road when it wants to it makes a vibration noise almost like a rumble strip. Comes and goes. No wheel bearing play in the front or anything, or rough feeling when spinning the front hub. I have no clue, guessing a wheel bearing going bad but I don't know. Any help, anyone have this problem before. Anything would help. Ideas? Thanks

 

Kinda sounds like a axle joint.

 

does it come and go or change its tone with what way you have the wheels turned ?

 

Comes and goes, it doesn't change tone. Just a steady noise, sometimes longer then others but no louder. Axle joint? It is possible, that was another one of my guesses. Thanks guys.

 

is it more of a ticking noise if so the needle bearings are toast in the u-joint

 

You can feel it like in your feet vibrating. Its got greasable joints on the axle, I grease them and well it didn't show signs of rust color on the exiting grease. But its definately possible. Thanks for the help.

 

take one hand and grab the axle shaft( from diff) take the other hand garab the wheel shaft(Connects to the hub) and try and move them if you feal any slop there bad
