im new to these forums and am looking at a 2001 chevy duramax. its the first diesel ill have. ive had other gmc 3/4 tons but they werent diesels. i think i read on here that this year had an injector recall. should i be worried about that? it has 116,000 miles. im going to use it on the farm but will probably use for my "goin to town" pickup. what do you guys think. here is a link to some pics....Hart Chevrolet

since it is an 01 it will be out of the injector warranty, its past the 7 years it covers.

its a nice lookin truck, the description n that site doesn't match whats pictured though. see if you can find any information about the vin# and see if it has had any past history

ya it says its 4x2 but you can see the 4x4 stickers on it. it also says its a long bed which it isnt. i did a carfax and it said it was a clean one owner truck. also said it was a corporate fleet vehicle. whatever that means. think i may go down there today or tomorrow and drive it around a little..is $13,000 about right. ill try to talk them down some.

I would think that you can get it for around 10k personally. The one thing that would worry me is with the 5th wheel it may have 116k HARD miles.

Looks good though.

That truck looks good to me. I wish I had four doors like that. Dodge's club (dud) cab sucks! I would rather have a reg. cab. I agree though i would only pay about 10K

ps. if you are worried about the injectors...thats your first bomb right there new sticks. problem solved

nice truck i wouldnt be scared of it it looks good i agree with both hard miles and 10k but that still wouldnt run me away and corporate fleet would even lure me in to me it means well maintenced (misspelled oh well)

I would be very cautious of that truck, for one- it doesn't match the description and two- if its a corporate fleet truck then it was used in a fleet of trucks for some company that would let anyone on payroll behind the wheel and abuse it how they want without getting caught.
I'm not saying don't buy it just don't take anything for granted and be very cautious. But before I would consider buying it spend a couple hundred and have a mechanic you trust check it out, but only right before you decide to buy it. Check the truck out to see how it was maintained. If it was a corporate fleet truck then their will be service records at the company that owned it before. It's a little trouble but could save you from having a bunch of problems down the road. Plus you can see if the injectors have been replaced or anything else. You can also have the Vin # ran on one of these diesel site to see the work that was done by the dealership while it was under warranty. Also priced kind of high for an 01.
Nice looking truck though. JMO
