It'll hurt the wallet some. I personally don't plug in till it's below 0*.

nope,
but since we are paying the electric bill a timer might be a good investment

you can set it any time period to start. i always set mine 2 hours before i was going to work in the morning.

your truck is new enough i would think it would start fine any way. have you been having starting issues when it's cold?

me personaly, i plug mine in evry night unless im sure i wont use my truck the next day. it wont hurt the electric bill as much has the dang space heaters i have to use to keep my house warm. i got alot more in my truck then i do in my house. i can tell a big difference in how it starts from leaving it unplugged to plugging it in in even 40 degree weather.

20* I wouldn't even consider the time to plug it in. You have a 1000 watt heater.
I read somewhere the Duramax has a 750 watt heater and it is self regulating(turns on/off by itself)

Once the weather turn nasty where it is affecting the trucks starting/warm up time its plugged in. Couple weeks ago we had sub zero temps and the trucks was plugged in for two days Didn't hurt anything.... It not that expensive and its so much easier on the truck and its most expensive part. So to me its worth it! Plug it in and forget it...

Cummins recommends plugging in when its below 40 degrees. Power costs way too much for that. I use a HD timer and have the power come on 3 hours before going to work.

cummins says 40? Seems kinda warm to me.
So Doc, that means you would have to have yours plugged in all year

Ditto for me. 3 hours seems to be the sweet spot.
