My brother went to leave in his 02 lb7 crew 4x4 an hour ago and had no power sterring and the brake pedal went to the floor. Both fluids are full. I don't know much about the hydroboost system, don't know if thats the problem or if a bad power steering pump would have something to do with it. No play or noise in pump pulley. The only thing I found in a few minutes of looking in the dark and raining cats and dogs was a big 40 amp in the big block of like 1" fuses toward the engine side of the fuse panel that was labelled stud was blown. there is a check valve that messes up on the pump sometimes.

mine has done that to me once, i had to keep the engine rpms up above 2000k rpms to even have a chance of turning.

but also a broken shaft will stop your brakes and steering to stop working.

replace the pump, theres 5 bolts iirc holding the pump on there 3 of which are hiding under the pulley. oh yah might want to replace that fuse

 

The PS pump controls both systems. Sometimes the pressure valve will stick, a swift jab of the brake pedal while the truck is running will make it work again.

Most of the time it's a broken shaft in the ps pump though.

Replace the fuse, it controls the + to the 7-way trailer plug. It has nothing to do with the PS though.

 

Yes broken shaft got it replaced today.
