Default Driveshaft Question.....

I have a 2006 2500HD Mega Cab 4X4 automatic. My drivetrain is vibrating, and at least one of the U-joints is starting to squeak (rear). Front shaft is shot and will be replaced. My question is: Will the one-piece rear driveshaft from a 2008 MegaCab fit my truck?? I have read that it will, and one of the posts even gave a DC part number. I can't find that particular post again, so can someone please point me in the right direction?? This two-piece-rubber-gromet-supported rear driveshaft is retarded. I'd rather spend money and fix (what I consider to be) a design DOH.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

most driveshafts that long have carrier bearings to reduce vibrations. To get a one piece to work you would need it balanced very well. I think only the regular cabs and qc shortbeds have one piece shafts. Could be wrong, been wrong before.

From what I'm being told, the 08 Mega Cab is a one-piece shaft. I agree that ballance is more critical, but I'd rather pay a few bucks and have a brand new shaft ballances. Someone on the forums is rumored to have made the swap, but I can't find the post.

you can get a custom one piece made at any drivetrain shop usually and they arent that expensive and they will balance them for ya, most of the pullers that have the carrier bearing set up use one pieces in their trucks.
