Default 48RE Need some help

Alright I'm looking into getting a 2005-2006 5.9 4x4 in the near future. I have been reading forum after forum to get advice and am a bit lost. So thought I would start my own thread.

What I want to do is to boost my hp to around 450. Prob going to go with Edge juice w/ attitude and a few more air flow upgrades. I want to be able to run all 6 stages. I don't want to blow my transmission. I'm not going to tow except on a rare occasion. Not into drag racing, just want the power there if i need it. Might gun it for fun on occasion but just a daily driver.

What trans upgrade should I go with to safely handle the extra hp? I've hear tc and vb upgrades. What else? What about a shift kit? What does that replace compared to an upgrade kit. Which is better and do i even need an upgrade and shift kit?

Thanks

If you are going to use a programer, you will need to do
some upgrades. min tc and vp, I would also do flex plate.

If you get an 06 I would go with EFI Live. As far as transmission goes I would go with a upgraded unit from Firepunk.

So would you go with the tow master or street/track trans. The tow only has a single disc tc

What is great about those firepunk transmissions? How do they compare to Goerend for a towing rig.

Depends on your future plans for the truck. The single disc they use is rated to hold 500hp.

Hey guys, I have an issue where anytime my throttle is @ 100%, my PCM gives the command to the trans to drop down into 2nd gear. I can assure you everything is mechanically sound. With the scan tool hooked up, you can watch the throttle percentage. If you only press it to 98-99%, it never does it. Once it see's 100%, it down shifts. It just started out of the blue. Would you suggest a ECM/PCM reflash?
