Default 1986 ford f250 diesel wandering at highway speeds

ok I just bought a 1986 ford f250 6.9 diesel that has not been run since 2006 on the way home it drove fine till about 20 miles than the probleams started. at about 55- it started wandering to the right and left. i could not keep it on the road. a friend said it might be a bad Rotor or tie rod. any ideas. and the truck came from east texas. the underside is coated in mud

It could be the brakes hanging up but I would just assume toe-in-toe-out alignment. Get it aligned and go from there.

the twin beam has bushings that can go bad .. it will make anything but mudding near impossible ..

Also the joint @ the steering box .. install a U-joint there..

I don't know about you, but to keep my truck straight, I have to have my wheel turned almost 90 degrees either way, would this be that bushing? Has new brakes twice in the last 3 months ( I melted my last pair in 2 days ) rotors, and the tie rods, drag link, and center link has been replaced. It's kind of aggravating

sounds like your rag joint is in the SHI$$ER ... flaming river has kits to replace them ... you may have to mod the steering rod ... but I'm going to be doint this before birtha hit the road again this spring ..

Doubt it haha I'm shopping the car market for a car with fuel economy more towards the 30s haha I found one but it's gonna get my five finger tune up before I can drive it anywhere, but the guy wants $800. Going to see it in a few hours, hope things so well
