Default Realistic towing weights with my 5.9 2500

I have an '03 cummins which I bought new. I've recently started upgrading and went with a PAC Brake and 5" exhaust. I also got my transmission adjusted which led to me getting it rebuilt-triple disk torque converter, more clutches and a built valve body. I haven't and am not planning on adding power any time soon, if at all. I've seen the specs Chrysler has for my truck's towing ability.......but I'm looking at a new trailer-11,800lb dry weight and would be in the neighborhood of 13,500lb to 14,000lb loaded. Any thoughts on this?

No worries tow away! But you will want a little extra power eventually!

I was hoping so. The diesel guys I've been dealing with have really gone against the grain in telling me to not add power. He's said that he would advise me to turn a programmer off while I'm doing so and, while I won't win any races, I'll be just fine.

I have the same truck, 03 with the low output engine then a full Banks kit in it. I pull a toy hauler with no real problems. I am not setting any speed records going over passes and top out ~45 MPH but have no other problem. I can even run with the OD on on the flat interstate and it works fine. I have been doing this for ~ 3 years.

Ya might need a little help in the rear suspension as it might sag a bit. I suggest at least airbags to help hold the load and keep you level. A little extra power wont hurt, but with what ya got, you'll be fine. Oh yeah, make sure you also have Load range E tires on you truck, just to be safe. Cheers
