I got the feeling that I need a new transfer case due to the clunking noise it makes when I engage the 4 wheel drive. I had work done on the tranny and I guess they didn't fill it up with fluid. I need to know what to look for and if anyone would know how much this is going to cost so I can start saving up.

 

NP241DHD is the transfer case you would need if you were going to replace it.

 

One more question, is this a common problem with these trucks. love the truck or I should say the CUMMINS

 

nope not on the DHD models.

the DLD ones had some issues though.


my xfer case has over 240k miles on it and has held up to heavy towing and 1285lbs/ft torque though it and never made a peep! it's still holding strong
