Pulled off oil pan found chunk of aluminum polished smooth what looks 2 be s big dowel pin and small allen head screw any ideas guys

It ran fine when it was last run just pulling it apart 2 reseal it but now im scratching my head all that is left 2 remove is cam n crank so idk where they came from

That sounds like one of the screws holding the shutter wheel on the back of the cam gear (it is for the cam sensor). I had the shutter wheel come off and lodge behind the cam gear and the timing cover, had all sorts of metal in the oil pan and oil filter, I thought the engine was done for. Ended up buying a used gear and swapping the wheel onto my old cam gear.
