im working on a 99 auto with 79k guy killed batterys and starter trying to start doesn't run I got a p1688 code??? I cleaned the fuel control module plug in and no go the lp was weak as in no fuel at all so I replaced got good flow now but would start tried bleeding injector lines etc still no start im thinking the lp killed the ip anyone know how to test or whats the next step thanks a bunch!

It sounds like the IP to me.

 

If it ran off bad lift pump it may have, but usually a p0216 code comes up for that. I just redid mine. It had a bad lift pump and went out. Strongly suggest a Fuel pressure gauge it should read about 15. And for the ip will most likely need new ones. I bought mine on ebay for $1000 and saw good combo deals like 1300 for vp and fass.

 

The injection pump fixed the problem!!!
