Default 99 sport build

Hey guys i recently bought another cummins! this time its a 99 black sport club cab long bed. it sits on 37in toyos and has 156k on it. i am looking for the next performance upgrade to do. i just got my 4in mbrp turndown exhaust and an s&b intake. it had a superchips programer on it and im looking for the next step to get more power and maybe even some fuel economy. dream hp would be around 400-500rwhp but thats a little ways off. im just not sure what the next part i should do the research on. i have gone through the TDR buyer guide and am sorta thinking that injectors might be the next good step but then i also think a better turbo would help as well. there are so many different parts that will help but im looking for some suggestions. idealy i would like to build it up and not have to replace parts to reach that 400 to 500 mark. let me know what you guys suggest. i have that hy35 turbo i think, that baby automatic one.
anyways thanks for the help,
Sam

I would go head studs next. That way when or if you get a better turbo you won't lift the head off the block with the added pressure. Then maybe the turbo then injectors.

how about a lift pump first before you do anything else...

this is a 99 24v we are talking about...

vp44's are EXTREMELY sensitive to fuel pressure.

keep fuel pressure in the proper range and you can push them to 650hp without issue, but if you don't have good fuel pressure and fuel flow, that injection pump will fail in a heartbeat.

you really need to ask yourself how much hp will I want in the future...

I knew I wouldn't leave well enough alone, so I got a fuel pump that can handle whatever I can throw at it.

(150GPH fuel system)

now if you truly plan to stay under 500hp, then a 100GPH fuel system will be fine.

but if you ever plan on 500hp+ 150GPH fuel system is needed.

a built automatic would be next on the list as it is the next weakest link.

I know it sucks having to do supporting mods before power, but it's either that, or be broke down on the side of the road with a very expensive repair bill...

trans, gauges and fuel system first.

then add more power, 150HP injectors, 62mm turbo and a better programmer if needed.

I got the gauges so looks like trans and injectors. What are the good turbos. I was thinking a hx40 would be a decent mid upgrade for a turbo. But not all that sure, I know about the compressor and exhaust housing size and how they affect the truck but I can't seem to find a good middle ground without jumping egt's and turbo lag. Suggestions?

lbs per minute
stock 54
super B 61
super hx40 66
62mm 72
63 75

we have genuine super 40 on sale, it will support 450HP, but will spool about as fast as a 62mm.

We will soon have non gated turbos that are under $1000
