I want to bypass or delete my heat exchanger because it is leaking. Can I just run a heater hose around it or is there more to it than that?


1994,single cab 3500 dually,auto,some small bombs,435,000 miles,good runner.

Yes you can bypass the heat exchanger. It's done a lot for someone adding compounds.

As long as you're not in an area below 0*, you should be fine.

Is there any secrets to bypassing this cooler? What size hyd.hose? Cooler is all rusted and water is coming out where the hose goes into cooler. It has a right I guess, 435,000 miles.

Me again. I desparately need a blow up of trans cooler to see what lines reconnect to what lines. I see there are four lines. One on ea. end and two underneath. Do the top ones connect and the ones underneath connect? I am approaching my 77th birthday and I my memory isn't what it once was.Help!!!!! If you don't know by now, I am wanting to remove the trans. cooler

Just don'r use heater hose - not made for oil. General purpose or something specifically made to hold oil.

 

Yeah I would use Hydraulic hose .. good for heat,oil, and high pressure ... and use 2 clamps in each end ....

now after geting under truck I see only 3 lines. Do I hook up front line to line running back to radiator and then what. I really need a diagrahm. Thanks

 

I would run a single line to radiator ( if you want to use that one ) , then tio a separate cooler behind grill drivers side had a small one ... ditch it and get something a bit more substantial, then into that from rad, then out from that unit to the inlet of trans ... and you should be good .. use hydraulic line and two clamps per end and it should never leak .... also see if you can find barbed fittings to use ... these are much less likely to leak or fail..
