Hole in my block
As the title says, I have a giant hole in my block. (I think #5) I bought the truck this way, Im having a hard time finding a block to replace it. I know I have at least one bad rod and piston. I did start the motor and it ran and sounded pretty good to me. (for having a hole in the block) I only ran it for a few seconds, oil stated to pour out of it. Can anyone tell me where I can find a block? Also what blocks are interechangable? Is it only 03-07? From what I have read, the difference from the older 24V blocks is the CR blocks are stronger because of extra stiffining in the lower end. Will an older 24V block work?
their a guy in Denver CO called Diesel Stop who rebuilds these engines, cost around 3500 for a long block you have to swap the CP3 over and the rocker arms, swinging one in for a friend and at my job we swong one in for a guy who was about o lose number 3.

Do you know what all he does for that price? I can get one out of NM. For $5000 delivered including core charge. But seems like they only re ring and put new bearings in it. Head not rebuilt.

It depends on the condition of the block if it need remachined, this was for a standard bore block, but he puts new pistons, rings, bearings, checks the front gears, new seals, and new lifters, but the push rods, and rocker arms are up to you... Rebuild kits are pretty cheap for these engines, but really those are really the main components that need replaced. Im beleive he goes thru the heads to.
