Default EGR and DPF delete

I was reading up on egr and dpf deletes...I am a little confused but would like to do this.
I have searched this forum for information but if anyone wants to expand on explaining this to me I would be happy to read! In addition I have some specific questions:

1. Does egr and dpf delete apply to the 2003-2004 Cummins or is this emissions stuff only on later models?
2. What is needed to actually "delete" it? Are there physical replacement parts or is this process done with a programmer?
3. What product(s) do you recommend I use?

Thanks!

Also if there is a custom chip that is worth having let me know.

I don't have much experience with EGR and DPF delete because I try to stay away from trucks that have those systems but I can tell you they didn't come around until 2007.5 Removing an EGR system will require a block off plate I don't think any "reprogramming" is necessary. Deleting the DPF would require removal of the DPF (obviously) and special programming to prevent the regen cycle etc. These questions are probably better asked in a 6.7 forum as the 5.9 does not have these systems.

Auto tranny - 47re or 48re? You shouldn't have any problems. If you drive it like you stole it everywhere doing boosted launches and stuff its going to catch up with you. But if you are just looking for a little extra power and some better economy you will be fine.

Its the std output so I believe those came with the 47re or nv4500
but yeah I never really drive it like i stole it. I may put 5000 miles a year on it max and punch the gas 1 time a month and keep the rpm as low as possible the rest of the time... more interested in it sounding good and not spending money on fixing it.
