Default Ford F450 6.4L diesel - engine spun cam shaft

I have a Ford 6.4L diesel, 2008, I am the original owner, the mileage is 36,074. We were pulling round bales with weight of about 16,000. The motor started to make a noise, so we pulled over and turned off the engine. The camshaft spun on 9-21-13 leaving us stranded along the road. We had it towed to the nearest ford dealer. They tore it down and they are working with Ford corporate to determine if they will cover the motor.
I just can not believe this, we bought the vehicle to tow and we maintain the truck properly. Now Ford is questioning if we have every receipt for changing oil. I stated, no do you keep every receipt when you buy oil and filter. Now Ford is deciding if they will cover the motor under the extended warranty.
I am very frustrated, and extremely worried. A new motor is $8,000 to $10,000. We will find out this week.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
