Have u guys noticed when taking ur silencer ring out u lost mpg I did and put her back in

 

No I didnt see any difference performance wise or mileage wise. I put mine back in as well because I think the turbo whistle has a better, more crisp sound to it when its in then when its out.

 

ring in or out makes no difference on performance or economy.

think maybe you just used your right foot more to hear the turbo more

 

is it me or is it extremly difficult to get the ring out? mine WILL NOT come out!!! i got the little clip thats suppose to hold it in off and cant get it to budge...

 

just pry it out with a screwdriver once the retainer ring is out.

 

how does this make the turbo louder anyway? is it louder out of the exhaust pipe or just a loud turbo spool under the hood?

 

the ring helps guide air into the turbo in a way that doesn't whistle as much.. removing it makes the whistle sound louder.

straight pipe exhaust will make the turbo louder yet as you will hear the turbine side as well
